TV Girl

TV Girl’s Wild and Innocent Mixtape

Got the email a day or so ago from LA’s TV Girl but only got round to listening tonight – as usual, brilliant. I don’t often say that of a Stereogum feted act, but I think it’s the mix of the usual sunkissed indie chillwave pop we’ve grown to love with spoken word and odd samples that wins me over. Their past EPs are the sort that didn’t leave my iPod for ages, creeping up on me and I’ve played them on the podcast before. That hasn’t changed here with this new ‘mixtape’ – more an original album with interesting extra spoken word bits, it’s like a band taking the hiphop format and doing it themselves, with a skit even from their mother!

Love the M***yD’s style activity booklet too, with the comments from faceless prozac animals that will be ground down for your meal, the ‘Can you help TV Girl Get The Sync License?’ game, the existential road colouring picture, and the liner pony!

You can download the mixtape for free over at Bandcamp courtesy of Greedhead records.
