I admit I only really came across Lady Leshurr via the guest spot on Orbital’s recent album, and she was the best thing on it! A friend posted this great video with her and the rest of the 367 crew (Lioness and Amplify Dot, who are equally worth checking out and should be big) guesting on Ms Dynamite’s single from last year, and so I had to check out further…here’s her version of Ch*** Br***’s Look at me now (OK I lied over the no CB rule) which apart from the obvious bonus of there being no Chris Brown on it, you can just see she has it, funny and with that amazing fast flow.
Loving this from Amplify Dot aka A.Dot with Kano, I used to listen to a LOT of Kano & 679 back in the day, kind of lost touch with grime/UK scene, it became a little too male/beef-dominated and gang flavoured so it’s nice to see on these outings it’s healthy with a good dose of independent women showing it. Sadly back in the day it seemed to be only Ms D and Lady Sov and little else. Good to see a new generation coming through, along with the likes of Mz. Bratt who I blogged about a while ago.
And Lioness here with a very old skool grime track, with a good message – this goes out to those new dubstep/brostep/Skrillex/Rusko heads out there who don’t get where it came from, South London ting! 😉
