Whatever you think about Julian Assange and what’s happening to him, it’s just as important to keep Wikileaks online and free from attack as part of the fallout of the Cablegate saga. I’ve setup two subdomain redirects – wikileaks.mutantpop.net and wikileaks.radioclash.com – or use the IP address above, or check this blog post for the latest IP address or info to do same on your site.

I would add my site as a mirror but I don’t think I have SSH access (having never used it either I think it might be rather dangerous for me to set it up!).

Also it’s disgusting how not only their original hosts and Amazon pulled the site (cloud computing and Web 2.0 is really reliable huh? Yes as if I’m going to put any data or my business with them anymore) but also their funding – Paypal, Visa and Mastercard have all been leant on by someone, although Paypal claimed limply at LeWeb that they’d just read a US diplomats letter to Wikileaks saying they were ‘illegal’ so just froze the account…doesn’t sound like they even bothered to, like, you know, consider the legal or censorship issues of doing so? FAIL. And of course people (hi Eve!) have been unearthing things like the fact Paypal and Mastercard quite happily run donations for such lovely law-abiding organisations like the KKK with nary a whimper. Nice.

If this is the spineless Web 2.0 ‘revolution’ then I’d rather go dancing in protest holding roses with the others over there, thankyouverymuch.

I have donated to Wikileaks, hope it made it through before Visa caved (details are still up there, so I think that was OK). Really since the banks have caused so much mess and in Black Swan style have socialised their losses to all of us, while privatising their profits you’d think they’d keep a low profile? Rather than giving the world populace more reason to hate them than their usual fleecing and overcharging – and also ‘querying for security’ as happened with my Wikileaks donation? Visa isn’t in my good books anyway, so they deserve everything Anonymous can throw at them.

Here’s streaming audio of an excellent radio segment on how Wikileaks is not the demon it is portrayed as:
